A device driver is a program that monitors and controls the dealings between a specific hardware and the operating system of the computer. Some drivers for the hardware like the keyboard are built in within the operating system but most operating systems require specific drivers to connect the keyboard and other hardware like mouse, disk drive, printer, camera etc. to your computer. The computer just cannot function without the help of the drivers.

Why you need to extract or back up drivers?

Windows WinPE and the bootable disk of third-party program doesn’t include all drivers on computer, and you may have a trouble on using the bootable disk. If you are able to extract driver and then add it to the bootable disk, the issue is able to resolved. To avoid the drivers were damaged or to reinstall driver after reinstalling system, you can also backup drivers first.

How to extract or backup driver with Driver Genius

Step 1.  Run Driver backup function.

Step 2.  Select the drivers you want to back up or extract.

Step 3. Click the Next to select a target place.

Step 4. Click the Next to start the backing up.

Step 5. Finish the backup.

Step 6. Find the driver in the target place.
